The Trumbull 15-year-old Babe Ruth team is going to the World Series.

Trumbull secured its berth with a 3-1 win Wednesday over Braintree, Mass., in the finals of the New England Region tournament in Farmington, Maine on Wednesday.

Colin Keyes earned the win in the finals and Stan Wolpiuk recorded the save.

The Babe Ruth 15-year-old World Series will be played Aug. 20-27 in Jamestown, N.Y. There are 10 teams in the tournament and Trumbull plays the first game on Aug. 20 at 12:05 p.m.

The 10 teams are divided into two groups of five with each team playing four games in pool play.

The top team in each group earns a bye into the semifinals, with the second- and third-place teams playing crossover games in the first round of the single-elimination playoff against the opposite division on Aug. 25.

The semifinals are set for Aug. 26 with the championship game to be played on Aug.27 at 1 p.m.

Trumbull is in the National Division, which includes the host team and champions from the Mid Atlantic, Pacific Northwest and Southeast.

The Trumbull American U-11 All Stars defeated Fairfield National 6-3 on Tuesday to win the Seabreeze Tournament in Orange.
