The Trumbull boys soccer team, which advanced to the first state final in school history, was voted third in the final Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association large school poll.
Trumbull finished 18-2-4 in a season that also saw the Eagles win their first outright FCIAC championship.

Bunnell, which won the Class L title was voted No. 1, followed by Pomperaug, which defeated Trumbull 2-1 in the Class LL final.
Among other local teams, Norwalk (16-3-2) was fourth and Southern Connecticut Conference champion Fairfield Prep (14-1-7) ninth.

The Webster Bank Arena will be the site of a high school hockey doubleheader on New Year's Eve.
In the first game at noon, Newtown plays Division III champion Watertown-Pomperaug in the first game at noon. Trumbull then meets Branford in the second game at 2.
Tickets are $10 for both games and can be purchased at the arena's Click It or Ticket box office. Tickets also will be available at each school for $8.
