Coach Montelli Begins His 50th Year at SJH

Ageless Vito Montelli begins his 50th season as the boys basketball coach on Wednesday when the Cadets open defense of their Class LL state championship at home against New Canaan. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
Last season, the Cadets ended a 10-year state title drought by beating Fairfield Prep 79-53 in the Class LL finals at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
The victory gave Montelli a Connecticut-record 10th crown and enabled the Cadets to become the first team in state history to win state championships in all four divisions.

Tickets for the Northeast Christmas Boys Basketball Tournament, to be played Dec. 27-28, at the Webster Ban k Arena at Harbor Yard, are on sale in the main office at St. Joseph. Tickets are $5 per night for students and $9 per night for adults.

Tickets purchased at the door will be $8 per night for students and $10 per night for adults.
Competing in the two-day event will be Class M champion Trinity Catholic Class L champion New London, Class LL champion St. Joseph and New York City power Archbishop Molloy.
