 The girls basketball team needed a fourth-quarter comeback to extend its FCIAC winning streak to 27 games.

Erin Moore scored 14 points and Alexa Pfohl added 13 points as the Eagles edged Westhill 60-58 overtime on Friday to improve to 4-0.

Victoria Pfohl added 11 points, 10 assists and six rebounds for Trumbull, which entered the fourth quarter facing a 45-37 deficit.

Only five players scored for the Eagles as Amanda Pfohl had 12 and Joyce Woolen chipped in with eight.

Megan D'Alessandro had her third straight monster game with 33 points for the Vikings (0-3). She is averging 31 points per game over Westhill's first three contests.

The St. Joseph girls basketball team remained undefeated under new coach Chris Lindwall as the Cadets defeated Darien 50-35 on Friday night.

Nancy Stablein recorded 21 points and nine rebounds for the Cadets, who improved to 4-0.

Jenn Vasquez added eight points for St. Joseph, which pulled away from a close game by outscoring the Blue Wave 17-8 over the final eight minutes.

Meg Marren had 16 points and 14 rebounds for Darien (2-1) while Kate Bushell added 14 for the Blue Wave.

The St. Joseph boys basketball rolled to its second straight lopsided win to open the season as the defending Class LL state champions overpowered Darien 76-34 on Friday.

Towson-bound Timajh Parker scored 18 points and added Pat Hopkins 17 with six blocks and four rebounds for the Cadets, who were coming off a 90-35 win over New Canaan.

Kyle Green and Liam Naughton scored nine points apiece for Darien (0-2), which trailed 66-15 entering the final period.

St. Joseph, ranked second in the New Haven Register preseason top 10 media state poll behind New London,  build a 22-2 lead after the first quarter.

John Watts scored 11 of his 16 points in the extra periods as the Trumbull boys basketball team outlasted Westhill 73-70 on Friday in a double overtime thriller.

Westhill (0-1) was without star center Chris Walters, who is recovering from a knee injury and won't return until January. In addition, Antwaun Boyd had his medical request for a fifth season turned down by the CIAC.

Mike Yerina recorded 13 rebounds and 13 points for Trumbull (1-1), which held a 48-43 lead in the fourth quarter. Travis Fonseca added 12 points for the Eagles before fouling out late in the fourth period.

Trey Brey scored 15 points for Trumbull, which built a 70-61 lead in the second overtime before Westhill's late rally fell short.

Tony Dobbinson scored 25 points and Sam Dorissaint added 21 for the Vikings
