The girls basketball team was surprised by Wilton 58-52 on Thursday night at home.
The Eagles fell to 12-2 overall and 10-2 in the FCIAC while Wilton improved to 10-3 and 10-2, tying Trumbull and St. Joseph for the FCIAC's second-best record behind undefeated Danbury (13-0, 11-0).

Maddie Fulton scored 17 points and Alyssa Malvarosa added 15 for Wilton, which posted its fifth consecutive victory. Casey Pearsall chipped in with 11 for the Warriors.
Erin Moore (18) and Victoria Pfohl (16) combined for 34 of Trumbull's 52 points.

The game was close all the way with Wilton holding a slim 25-24 lead at the half. The Warriors then outscored the Eagles 17-12 in the third period to take a 42-36 egde into the final quarter.

Freshman Matt Shifrin scored 13 points Thursday as the surging Wilton boys basketball team defeated Trumbull 61-39 at the Zeoli Field House for their its straight victory.
Max Maudsley added 11 points and Weston Wilbur and Chris Nugent each chipped in with nine for the Warriors, who reached the .500 mark at 6-6. Nugent also grabbed 12 rebounds.
Wilton, which finished just 2-18 last season, needs two wins to qualify for the state tournament for the first time since 1999.
The Eagles, who were hit with five technical fouls, dropped to 6-6. Mike Yerina scored 11 points and Jason Lima added eight for Trumbull.
After grabbing a 7-5 lead after the first quarter, Wilton outscored the Eagles 20-11 in the second period to built 27-16 margin at the half. The Warriors then slowly pulled away in the second half, holding Trumbull to a season low in points.
