Cadets Boys Basketball Meets Bassick Tonight

The undefeated and top-ranked boys basketball team takes on Bassick on Monday at 8 p.m. at Webster Bank Arena in the Bridgeport Basketball Classic.
This will be the third game of a tripleheader that opens with a girls clash between Harding and Bridgeport Central at 4 p.m., followed by a boys game between Harding and Central at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the Arena.

St. Joseph improved to 11-0 with a 79-61 victory over Staples on Thursday, but the Cadets could get a test from Bassick, the defending FCIAC champions who have senior forward Demetrius Thomas back in the lineup.
The Lions' top player, Thomas had been ineligible for academic reasons, but he returned last Friday and scored 22 points in Bassick's 57-49 victory over Fairfield Ludlowe. The Lions enter Monday's game with a 10-2 record.

The tickets are $11 for adults and $9 for students. They are only available by going to the Click It or Ticket box office at the arena.

Trumbull's Matt Klein won a 15-kilometer road race in Ridgefield on Sunday, posting a winning time of 50.39 over the 9.3-mile course to capture the second leg of the Boston Buildup series.
Klein, 17, topped the 322 runners who completed the race and leads the overall standings.
Cos Cob's Anja Krieger-Redwood won the women’s division for the second straight race with a time of 58.48.
The four-race series continues with a 20K race set for Feb. 12 in Southport.
Klein finished more than a minute ahead of runner-up Will McDonough of New Canaan, who crossed the finish line in 51.56.
Completing the top five were Ansonia's Tom Milenkevich (51:57), Danbury’s Joe LeMay (54.57) and Rowayton’s Gus Ellison (55.42).
Among the female finishers, Darien's Liz Herbert was fourth (1:00.8) and Wilton’s Mary Zengo fifth (1:00.29).
Klein leads the men’s division with Milenkevich and McDonough ranking second and third, respectively. In the women's division, Redwood leads after two races.

Brendan Strobel and Tim Riley scored goals as the Trumbull boys hockey team edged Wilton 2-1 on Friday.
The Eagles rebounded from a 2-1 loss to Fairfeld Warde-Ludlowe earlier in the week to improve to 9-4.
Strobel scored in the final minute of the first period and Riley did the same in the second period to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
Matt Paolini recorded 36 saves for Trumbull, allowing only a third-period goal to Alex Pagliaro.
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Wilton, which dropped to 3-8.
Trumbull already has clinched a berth in the Division II state tournament, marking the 10th time in the last 12 years that the Eagles have qualified for postseason play.

John Ferguson scored three goals and Ryan Corcoran added two Saturday as the St. Joseph boys hockey team defeated Trinity Catholic 7-4 at the Shelton Rinks.
Logan Bruneau and Sean Hurley also scored for the Cadets, who improved to 9-4.
Steven Lambrinakos scored twice and Pat Corcoran and Jamey Shea each tallied once for the Crusaders, who dropped to 2-10.
Kyle Odierno made 20 saves for Trinity Catholic while Ron Johnson also stopped 20 shots for St. Joseph.
