It's status quo in the New Haven Register boys basketball top 10 media state poll  as St. Joseph and Hillhouse are one-two for the fourth consecutive week.

The Cadets collected 16 of the 18 first-place votes with Hillhouse (13-0) garnering the other two.

Northwest Catholic (11-1) is third, followed by New London (11-2) and Kolbe Cathedral (14-0) to complete the top five.

Career (12-1) is sixth, followed by Hartford Public (13-0), Windsor (12-1), Wilby (12-1) and Trinity Catholic (10-3).

Trinity Catholic returns to the poll after handing Ridgefield its first loss of the season last week. Ridgefield, which had been ranked eighth, dropped out of the top 10.

The Tigers (11-1) are 11th, and the only other FCIAC team receiving votes is Bassick, which is 18th.

The Trumbull and St. Joseph girls basketball teams look to move one step closer toward clinching FCIAC playoff spots on Tuesday as the Eagles host winless Bassick and the Cadets entertain Norwalk. Game time for both games is set for 7 p.m.

Trumbull  (12-2, 10-2) and St. Joseph (12-2, 10-2) are tied with Wilton for the FCIAC's second-best record with three weeks left in the regular season.

Trumbull will be looking to rebound from a 58-52 loss to Wilton and take out some frustrations on the winless Lions (0-13, 0-12) while St. Joseph has been off since defeating Staples 69-55 on Jan. 4.

Norwalk (9-5, 7-5) is scrambling for a playoff spot as the Bears are in a five-way tie for seventh in the FCIAC standings with Darien, Stamford, Staples and Fairfield Warde.

On the boys side, Trumbull, which is coming off a humbling 61-39 loss to Wilton, visits Bassick.

The defeat to Wilton dropped the Trumbull boys to 6-6 overall and 5-5 in the FCIAC.
