The St. Joseph boys lacrosse team will make its third straight appearance in the CIAC Class S state championship game when the Cadets face No. 3 seed Barlow on Saturday at McMahon (10:30 a.m.)

Bobby Ciotti  had two goals and six assists in a 15-6 semifinal win over top seed Somers in the semifinals on Wednesday.

The 12th-seeded Cadets only finished the regular season at 8-8, but they clearly benefitted from playing in the FCIAC, the best lacrosse league in the state.

Barlow (16-4) reached the final with a 13-7 win over No. 2 Stonington.

St. Joseph beat Weston in the 2009 title game, then lost to the Trojans in the final last year. Both games were decided by one goal.

Against Somers, Brian Bacarella added three goals and three assists for the Cadets, who broke it open in the second half after only leading 5-4 at the intermission.

 Pat Mulligan and Pat Corcoran each scored three goals for St. Joseph, which is seeking the secon boys lacrosse state championship in school history.

-Trumbull will be represented in the 66th annual New England interscholastic outdoor track and field championships on Saturday in Burlington, Vermont.

Mike Adinolfi qualified 10th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 39:76 while the Eagles also will be sending a pair of relay teams.

The 4-x-100 team (Adinolfi, Nick Lombardi,  Tim Johnson, Keith Bond, Joe Matera, and Phil Terio) qualified ninth in 43.51.

The 4-x-400 team  (Adinolfi, Bond, Malcolm Connor, Dan Foster, Johnson and Lombardi)  did even better, posting the third-fastest qualifying time at 3:21:53
