The Christian Heritage School softball team hosted  the  HVAL championship against The Harvey School of Katonah, N.Y., on Wednesday.

The Lady Kingsmen advanced to the final with a 10-1 victory over the Wooster School to remain undefeated.

Senior pitcher Olivia Cichon had eight strikeouts while shortstop Jess Cicerchia hit a base-clearing triple. Right fielder Sara Bristol made an over-the-fence catch to end the fifth inning.

-- Former Barlow coach Chris Lindwall has been named the new girls basketball coach at St. Joseph, the Connecticut Post reported Tuesday.

A former assistant under Dianne Nolan at Fairfield, Lindwall  guided the Falcons to the 1995 Class M championship and a berth in the 1998 final.

He replaces Joe Cavallaro, who was dismissed after six years at the school. The Cadets are coming off a 16-8 season.
