Trumbull Scores and Standings: Nov 14

The Trumbull boys soccer team (15-1-4) looks to advance to the Class LL quarterfinals on Monday when the seventh-seeded Eagles host No. 10 Simsbury in a second-round game at 2 p.m.

The reigning FCIAC champions advanced with a 3-0 win over New Milford on Friday.

The winner of Monday's contest faces either No. 2 seed Norwich Free Academy or No. 18 Glastonbury in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Eight FCIAC teams have reached the second round of the state tournament. Joining Trumbull in the round of 16 are No. 3 Norwalk, No. 11 Staples, No. 17 Greenwich and No. 19 Westhill while No. 5 Darien, No. 12 New Canaan and No. 16 have advanced in Class L.

Norwalk hosts Westhill in a head-to-head match and Staples takes on Farmington in a rematch of last year's state final, won by Farmington. Darien hosts New Canaan in another head-to-head clash for a spot in the final eight.
