Things do not getting any easier for the Trumbull football team.

After losing to unbeaten Darien 21-0 last week, the Eagles face another unbeaten club on Friday when Staples visits McDougall Stadium.

Friday's contest concludes a rugged three-game stretch for the Eagles (2-2), who are looking to snap a two-game slide that began with a 36-12 setback to Greenwich on Oct. 6.

During this three-week stretch, Trumbull will face three of the four teams that are still unbeaten in conference play. New Canaan is the other, and the Eagles see the Rams on Nov. 11.

Friday also marks the first home game for Trumbull since legendary former coach Jerry McDougall passed away last week.

Staples, which hosts Darien next week, improved to 4-0 with a 31-12 win over Danbury.

On Saturday (2 p.m.), St. Joseph (1-4) also has a stiff test at New Canaan, which improved to 5-0 with a 28-14 win over previously unbeaten Norwalk last Friday.

Senior quarterback Matt Milano threw three touchdown passes against the Bears and has the Rams' high-powered offense rolling.

Still, the Cadets' offense finally broke out last week as St. Joseph defeated Harding 40-12 for its first win of the season.

Freshman Mufasa Abdul-Bazir rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns for the Cadets, who handed New Canaan its only regular-season loss last year but this is not the same St. Joseph team.
