The Trumbull boys soccer team closes out its regular season on Wednesday at Trinity Catholic (4 p.m.) With a win, the Eagles will jump over Darien and clinch the No. 2 seed for the FCIAC playoffs, which begin Friday.
Darien (11-2-3, 36 points) completed its regular season with a 1-1 tie against Trumbull on Monday. The Eagles enter their final game with 34 points (10-1-4) and will climb over the Blue Wave with a victory. Trinity Catholic is just 1-12-1.
Norwalk (13-1-1, 40 points) clinched the top seed for the second straight year with a 4-2 victory over New Canaan on Monday. Staples, however, has won the last three FCIAC championships, beating Fairfield Warde 2-1 in last year's final.
TUESDAY'S RESULTS
Girls soccer
Trumbull 3, Fairfield Ludlowe 1 -- Katie Foley scored two goals and Lauren Hyde added one for the Eagles (7-3-5). Foley also added an assist.
St. Joseph 4, Trinity Catholic 0 -- Julia Marino, Sam Grasso, Alyssa Christo and Mary Morrissey scored for the Cadets (13-1-1), who clinched the top seed in the FCIAC playoffs. Christo also had two assists.
Field hockey
New Canaan 8, Trumbull 1 -- The Eagles dropped to 0-12-1.
