The Trumbull football team is close to cracking the top 10 in the Connecticut Sportswriters Alliance poll. The Eagles climbed to 12th following their season-opening 47-13 victory over Westhill.
Two FCIAC teams -- No. 3 New Canaan and No. 5 Staples - are in the top 10. Trumbull is one of six FCIAC teams receiving votes, joining No. 15 Greenwich, No.16 Darien, No. 28 Norwalk, No. St. Joseph (which is 0-2) and No. 35 Wilton.

TUESDAY'S RESULTS
Girls soccer
Trumbull 7, Trinity Catholic 0--Ana Tantum scored two goals and Marissa Piccolo, Nicole Schwartz, Rachel Laffitte, Riana Odin, Fran Michel each scored one for the Eagles (1-0-3), who broke out for their first win of the season after tying their first three games.
St. Joseph 2, Greenwich 1 -- Katie Danaher scored the tiebreaking goal off a corner kick with two minutes remaining as the Cadets (5-0) remained unbeaten. Cori Scales scored the first half for St. Joseph.
