Trumbull Softball Falls To Danbury, 12-4 (Video)

Eagles now prepare for the state tournament following an 8-11 regular season

The girls softball team made too many mistakes as its final-inning comeback attempt fell short Friday in a 12-4 loss to Danbury.

The Hatters, who now head into the FCIAC tournament, improved to 15-5 while Trumbull's Charlie Judge concluded the worst regular season in his eight years as the Eagles' coach with an 8-11 record.

Heading into this season, Judge had lost a mere 13 games in his previous seven seasons combined.  The Eagles will have next week off as they look to regroup for the state tournament.

Danbury hit early and often, capitalizing on Trumbull’s fielding miscues and errors. The Hatters did not score with any base-clearing doubles or home runs, just smart base running and timely hitting.

Danbury was led by Michelle Jones, Alyse Henry, Jenny Flannery and Rhiana Farmer, all of whom had two RBI. Only two of Danbury's 14 hits went for extra bases.

Friday marked the final regular-season game for Trumbull seniors Alex Bacharach, Sarah Wesley, Samantha Fine, Nicole Cammarota and Sarah Filmer as their senior night ended on a sour note.
