With eight teams, including Trumbull High School, battling for the final three playoff spots, the final week of the FCIAC boys basketball season figures to be a wild one with numerous tiebreaker scenarios involved.

Bridgeport Central, Greenwich and Stamford are tied for sixth at 9-7, However, there are five teams -- Danbury, Fairfield Ludlowe, Fairfield Warde, Staples and Trumbull -- deadlocked at 8-8. The eight teams are separated by just one game in the standings with only two contests left in the regular season.

The Eagles (9-9 overall) suffered a damaging 51-46 loss to Harding on Wednesday, but are certainly still in the mix.

Regarding tiebreakers, Trumbull lost to Bridgeport Central and Stamford but beat Greenwich. With the 8-8 teams, it lost to Warde but beat Staples.

Destiny remains in the Eagles' hands as they finish with Ludlowe on Monday and Trinity Catholic on Wednesday, both at home.

Monday's contest shapes up as an elimination battle. Ludlowe clearly would be in the driver's seat with a win as the Falcons finish against Darien.

Here is the final schedule for the other contenders:

Bridgeport Central -- Trinity Catholic, at McMahon

Greenwich -- at Warde, at Danbury

Stamford -- at Bassick, at Harding

Danbury -- Norwalk, Greenwich

Fairfield Warde -- Greenwich, St. Joseph

Staples -- at McMahon, at Bassick

Fairfield Ludlowe -- at Trumbull, at Darien

Central (Trinity Catholic), Stamford (Bassick), Warde (St. Joseph), Staples (Bassick) and Trumbull (Trinity Catholic) each have tough games remaining while Monday's Greenwich-Warde battle also looks like an elimination contest.

St. Joseph, Ridgefield, Trinity Catholic, Bassick and Westhill have clinched playoff spots.

St Joseph (18-0), which is two games away from an undefeated regular season, hosts Ridgefield on Monday.
