The Trinity Catholic boys basketball team earned the No. 2 seed for the FCIAC playoffs in dramatic fashion.
Paschal Chukwu followed in an offensive rebound at the buzzer Wednesday as the Crusaders posted a 61-59 victory over Trumbull, High School, whose FCIAC playoff hopes ended in heartbreaking fashion. Those were Chukwu's only two points of the game.
Jason Boswell scored 16 points for Trinity Catholic (15-5, 14-4), which will face No. 7 Danbury in the FCIAC quarterfinals on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Fairfield Ludlowe.

Casimir Schodrac scored 14 points and Tremain Fraiser added 12 for the Crusaders, who led 36-31 at halftime.
Two free throws by Trumbull's Jason Lima tied the game at 59-59 with eight seconds remaining.

Sam Turner scored 20 pointsa and Travis Fonseca added 11 for the Eagles, who finished 10-10 and 9-9. They would have snagged a playoff spot if they could have pulled off the upset.
Trumbull, which made nine 3-pointers, outscored Trinity Catholic 18-10 in the third quarter to take a 44-41 lead into the final period.

The St. Joseph boys hockey team (14-6) has entered the New Haven Register top 10 media poll for the first time this season at No. 9.
Despite a 2-0 loss to Notre Dame of West Haven on Saturday, Fairfield Prep (14-3) held on to a share of the top spot with the Green Knights (14-3-1)
Notre Dame (14-3-1) did collected one more first-place vote than the Jesuits with eight of the 15.
Ridgefield (18-2) is third, followed by Hamden (10-4-2), Glastonbury (13-5-0), Darien (14-5-0), West Haven (10-6), Xavier (9-7-1), St. Joseph and East Haven (11-5-2),which also was unranked last week.
Darien dropped two spots following its 4-0 loss last week to New Canaan (12-7-1), which is just outside the top 10 at No. 11
Ridgefield posted an impressive 6-1 win over Glastonbury on Tuesday to conclude its regular season.
On Wednesday, Ron Johnson recorded 25 saves Wednesday as the Cadets concluded the regular season with a 5-0 victory over Amity at the Bennett Rink in West Haven.
John Ferguson scored two goals and Christian Keator, Ryan Corcoran and Bryan Canfaratta each added one for the St. Joseph, which will be back in action on Saturday in the tier one FCIAC playoffs.
Nick Nuzzolo aside shots for Amity, which dropped to 6-11-1.
St. Joseph scored twice in the first period, once in the second twice again in the final stanza.

The St. Joseph and Trumbull girls basketball teams will play home games in the first round of the Class LL state tournament on Monday.
The seventh-seeded Cadets (17-3) will host FCIAC rival Westhill (10-10), the 26th-seed while the eighth-seeded Eagles (17-3) welcome No. 25 Bristol Eastern (11-9).
St.Joseph will be without leading scorer Nancy Stablein, who suffered a torn ACL in the Cadets' loss to Stamford in the FCIAC quarterfinals and is out for the remainder of the season.
Should the Cadets advance, they could get a rematch with Stamford 11-9) which plays at No. 10 Mercy of Middletown (16-4) in the first round.
The Trumbull-Bristol Eastern winner faces the winner of the game between No. 9 Newtown (7-3) and No. 24 Amity (11-9).
Trumbull will be going for its second straight FCIAC title on Thursday when it faces undefeated Danbury in the title game at Fairfield Ludlowe at 7 p.m. Danbury is the top seed in the Class LL tournament.
