The Ridgefield and boys hockey teams will clash on Wednesday at the Terry Conners Rink in Stamford for a berth in the finals of the FCIAC's tier one playoffs.

Faceoff is set for 8 p.m. with New Canaan and Darien squaring off in the first game of the semifinal doubleheader at 6 p.m.

St. Joseph (15-6) advanced to the semifinals with a 2-1 victory over Trinity Catholic on Saturday while Ridgefield (18-2), the No. 2 seed, earned a first-round bye.

The Cadets enter the contest with a five-game winning streak, which includes a 4-2 victory over New Canaan on Feb. 18, and will be looking to get back to the FCIAC after losing to the Rams in overtime in last year's championship game.

Ridgefield, however, is a formidable foe. The Tigers only losses came to top-ranked Fairfield Prep in the opening game of the season (3-0) and Darien on Feb. 11 (4-2).

Between those two defeats, Ridgefield reeled off 14 straight victories, although the setback to Darien cost the Tigers the top seed in the playoffs.

During the long winning streak, Ridgefield edged St. Joseph 3-2 on Jan. 14, a game in which the Cadets had an early lead.

The FCIAC championship game is set for Saturday at 6 p.m. at Terry Conners.
