The girls basketball team clinched an FCIAC playoff spot Tuesday with a 57-44 victory at Westhill.
Nancy Stablein scored 15 points and Jessica Jowdy added 11 for the Cadets, who improved to 14-3 overall and 12-3 in the FCIAC.

With Wilton's loss to Darien 33-28, St. Joseph also took over sole possession of first place in the FCIAC East.
Lauren Della Vecchia added 10 points for the Cadets, who built a 28-18 halftime lead, then outscored the Vikings 29-26 in the second half.

Taylor Evans scored 14 points for Westhill, which dropped to 9-8 and 8-7 and fell one game out of a FCIAC playoff spot with three games remaining in the regular season.

The Trumbull girls basketball fought off upset-minded Ridgefield on Tuesday for 53-43 victory.
Amanda Pfohl and Erin Moore each scored 13 points for the Eagles, who improved to 15-2 overall and 13-2 in the FCIAC.
Alexa Pfohl added for Trumbull, which is looking to nail down the No. 2 seed for the FCIAC playoffs.
However, the Eagles had trouble putting away the Tigers, who are fighting for their state tournament lives.
Trumbull only led 22-19 at halftime and took a 36-27 lead into the final period.
Andrea Ferrero scored 10 points and Emma Glubiak added nine for Ridgefield, which dropped to 6-11. The Tigers need to win two of their final three games to qualify for the state tournament.

The unbeaten record of the St. Joseph High School boys basketball team is intact, but just barely.
James Jennings hit the winning basket with 11 seconds remaining Tuesday as the Cadete eked out a 67-65 victory over Westhill to improve to 15-0 overall and 13-0 in the FCIAC
The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for Westhill, which dropped to 10-5 and 9-4.
Timajh Parker scored 26 points to lead the Cadets while Jennings added 17 and 13 rebounds. Patrick Hopkins chipped in with 10 points for St. Joseph and also grabbed 13 boards.
Tony Dobbinson scored 22 points and Chris Walters added 18 for the Vikings, who trailed 40-33 at the half but pulled within 54-50 entering the final period.

Jack Heller scored a career-high 18 points Tuesday as the Ridgefield High boys basketball team cruised to a 66-41 victory over Trumbull.
The Tigers, who boast the FCIAC's second-best record, improved to 13-2 overall and 11-2 in conference play. Trumbull dropped to 7-8 and 6-7.
Kurt Steidl also scored 18 points for Ridgefield while Seth von Kuhn added 14.
The Tigers built a 20-12 lead after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 35-25 at the intermission.
Ridgefield then out away the game by outscoring the Eagles 15-7 in the third quarter to take a 50-32 margin into the final period.
Mike Yerina kept Trumbull in the game with 24 points, but it was than half of the Eagles' total.

The FCIAC wrestling championships are set for Friday and Saturday at New Canaan High School.
The event begins with the weigh-ins on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by the round of 16 matches of 4:30 p.m. and the quarterfinal bouts later in the evening.
The competition resumes on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the semifinals and consolation quarterfinals, to be followed by the consolation semifinals at 12 p.m. and the fifth-place and third-place matches at 2 p.m. The championship finals are set to begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Awards will be be given to the FCIAC East and West champions along with the most valuable wrestler, the most falls in least aggregate time and a sportsmanship winner. Finally, awards will be presented to the FCIAC tournament runner-up and champion.
In 2011, Danbury won its 24th FCIAC title in 25 years, defeating runner-up Greenwich by 50 points. Fairfield Warde finished third, followed by Trumbull, Stamford and Westhill.
The Hatters reclaimed the championship after Warde ended their 23-year title reign in 2010.
Danbury, which is 20-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state, is again considered the favorite to win the crown. Other contenders include Trumbull, which is ranked ninth in the Norwich Bulletin top 10 state coaches' poll, and Warde, which is 11th.
