Cadets Hockey Falls 9-1 to Hamden

The boys hockey team was routed by No. 9 seed Hamden 9-1 Wednesday night in the first round of the Division I state tournament.
The Cadets, who were coming off a 6-0 loss to New Canaan in the semifinals of the tier one FCIAC playoffs, finished the season at 15-8.
Hamden (11-8-2), which scored four power-play goals, dvanced to the quarterfinals to take on longtime rival Fairfield Prep on Saturday at a time and site to be determined.

Fairfield Prep, which beat Hamden 5-2 in the quarterfinals last season en route to the state championship, advanced with a 3-1 win over North Haven on Wednesday.
