Trumbull State Rep. Candidate Doug Sutherland Endorsed by Council 4 and Sierra Club

Sutherland has been endorsed by AFSCME Council 4 and the Sierra Club.

The following is from the campaign office of Dough Sutherland:

Democratic State Representative Candidate Doug Sutherland announced today that his campaign has picked up two key endorsements as it marches forward to November. Council 4 AFSCME and the Sierra Club – Connecticut Chapter have both voted to endorse Sutherland’s run for State Representative in the 123rd District in Trumbull
Council 4 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees is one of the largest labor unions in the state with 32,000 members. “Trumbull’s middle class needs a state legislator who is looking out for them, that’s why AFSCME is proud to endorse Doug Sutherland for State Representative” said Sal Luciano, Executive Director. “Doug can be counted on to bring people together to move Connecticut forward.”
Founded in 1892, The Sierra Club is the oldest and largest environmental grassroots group in the country and it is dedicated to the enjoyment and protection of the natural places of the earth, and is one of America’s most effective advocates for the environment.
“The Sierra Club is confident that Doug Sutherland will be a strong advocate for protecting the health of the environment and thus the quality of life in Connecticut” said Martin Mador, Political and Legislative Chair, Sierra Club – Connecticut Chapter, in announcing the endorsement. “We think Doug will prove to be a valued and reliable friend of the environment and we are pleased to recognize his commitment to this most important of legislative priorities.”
“I am very proud and pleased to receive both of these endorsements,” said Doug Sutherland. “Working to strengthen the middle class and supporting working families are two of my key priorities as is protecting environmental and human health across our state” Working people are the backbone of this great state and when we support a strong middle class, we are building a solid foundation for future growth and prosperity in Connecticut,” Sutherland said. “And of course the health of our environment should be a priority for all of us.” One of the Cub Scout pledges says “Leave No Trace”, but I think we should all strive to “Leave a Positive Trace” – we should all work to leave a healthier, more vibrant world to the generations that follow.”
