Trumbull State Reps. Get Committee Assignments

State Rep. Laura Devlin (R-134) and Rep. David Rutigliano (R-123) got committee assignments for their upcoming terms.

Devlin will serve on the finance revenue and bonding committee, which is the powerful tax-writing committee of the General Assembly.

She will also serve on the transportation and the government administration and elections committees

“This will be a comprehensive and challenging legislative session. As a member of the Finance committee, which is the tax-writing committee, I will fight all attempts to raise income taxes on Fairfield and Trumbull families,” said Devlin.“I am particularly excited about serving on the Transportation Committee, which has cognizance of all matters relating transportation, including highways and bridges, mass transit and railroads. We have serious transportation issues in our state to resolve,”

Rutigliano will serve on the labor and public employees committee

“I have full confidence Dave will be an effective ranking member on the Labor Committee. I know his determination to get all the facts and preparation will be beneficial to the other sixty-three House Republican members,” said House Republican Leader Klarides.

He will also be on the general law committee for a second term.

“This year, given the serious financial shape our state is in, and the number of other issues we face, it’s important our community’s voice is clearly heard during the committee process, and as a state representative, it’s my duty to deliver that voice. I’m looking forward to working side-by-side with my colleagues towards finding the best possible solutions to all these issues - solutions that will better our community and our state,” Rutigliano said.

Both Rutigliano and Devlin secured posts of the legislature’s Finance Revenue and Bonding which is the powerful tax-writing committee of the General Assembly.
