Trumbull State Reps Oppose Tax Plan

The plan would amount to a $1.8 billion tax increase, according to Trumbull state representatives.

Trumbull State Representatives Laura Devlin (R-124) and David Rutigliano (R-123) said that they oppose proposed tax hikes for state residents.

“I am astounded by this $1.8 billion dollar tax increase,” Devlin said. “Already shouldering the heaviest tax load of any state in the country, our Connecticut residents and businesses will face even higher taxes with this plan.”

The Democratic package calls for a increase for the top marginal rate in income tax to 6.99 percent for single filers. There would also be a two percent supplemental tax on capital gains income for filers earning over $500,000 and joint filers earning more than $1 million.
