Trumbull Town Council to Vote on No Confidence Resolution

The resolution would officially voice displeasure with Gov. Malloy and the general assembly if passed.

The Trumbull Town Council will vote Thursday on a resolution of no confidence in Gov. Dannel Malloy and the Connecticut General Assembly.

“When three of the state’s largest employers come forward and say that the budget deal reached by Governor Malloy and legislative leadership will cause them to leave Connecticut, this is a tremendous cause for concern,” said First Selectman Tim Herbst, a Republican in a statement. “Governor Malloy had the dubious distinction of presiding over the largest tax increase in Connecticut history. He will now preside over the second largest tax increase in Connecticut history. The taxpayers of Trumbull and the taxpayers of Connecticut are not Governor Malloy’s ATM machine.”

The comments come after General Electric and some other large companies announced they are looking to move out of state due to newly-passed budget.
