Trumbull Votes to Leave Health District

The discussion took more than two hours at a town council meeting.

The Town Council voted Thursday night to leave the Trumbull Monroe Health District.

Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst earlier urged leaving the district, citing increased costs over the years.

The proposal discussion lasted more than two hours, according to the Trumbull Times.

Former Chairman of the board Dr. Larry Dinkles said Trumbull was the “wild west” before the combination and that it had lax regulations concerning restaurants and other establishments.

Monroe is in discussions with other area health districts.
