Trumbull's Herbst Said State Treasurer Opponent Lied About Overruling Advisory Council

The two will have their one and only debate Wednesday, which is being taped for broadcast on NBC30 Sunday.

In the final days of the campaign, Tim Herbst has come out again against his opponent state treasurer Denise Nappier and said that she lied when she said she never overruled the advisory council on an investment decision.

The Investment Advisory Council rejected Nappier’s suggestion to invest in Fairview Capital Partners in May 2010, but an 8-2 vote, according to the Hartford Courant.

Nappier and staff brought the issue up again a year later and invested $150 million with Fairview, according to meeting minutes. Nappier said the council arrived at a decision due to an incorrect version of a report and she addressed their concerns, but two former council members said that wasn’t true.
