U.S. Rep. Himes Endorses Trumbull State Rep. Candidate Doug Sutherland

Democratic state representative candidate Doug Sutherland picked-up an endorsement from U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4) and Ct Voters for Gun Safety PAC.

“I am proud to support Doug Sutherland for State Representative,” Himes said in a statement. “He is ethical and independent and I know he will always put the needs of Trumbull’s families and seniors first - instead of the special interests.”

Sutherland, who is running for the 123rd district in Trumbull said he is proud of both the endorsements.

“I’ve known Jim Himes since he first ran for Congress in 2008,” he said in a release. “It means a great deal to receive an endorsement from someone like Jim who I admire and look to as a role model.”

“I’m also proud to receive the endorsement of the CVGS PAC,” Sutherland said. “Connecticut has led the nation in battling the scourge of gun violence and while we await stronger measures like universal background checks at the federal level, I stand with those who have made Connecticut a safer place by supporting tough gun safety measures and improvements in our mental health care system,” he added.
