Video: Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst Debates Empty Chair on Chaz and AJ 99.1 WPLR

Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst has previously said he is willing to debate an empty chair if he has to in his bid for state treasurer.

He made good on that promise Tuesday morning on the Chaz and AJ show on 99.1 WPLR by debating a squeaky chair for a half an hour.

Herbst has repeatedly sought a public debate with incumbent Denise Nappier. She canceled the day of a scheduled debate last week, citing personal reasons. She appeared the following day during an editorial board meeting with the New Haven Register.

Nappier was at the 11th Annual Ella T. Grasso Womens’ Leadership Awards Breakfast in Southington during the Chaz and AJ segment, according to the Connecticut Post.

The two campaigns are working with NBC Connecticut to schedule a debate between the two candidates before Election Day, according to the Post.
