Eight teams still in contention. Three spots available. Two games remaining.

However, if any of them falter, there are five teams lurking at 8-8 --Danbury, Fairfield Ludlowe, Fairfield Warde, Staples and Trumbull. The eight clubs are separated in the standings by one game.

St. Joseph (16-0), Bassick (12-4), Ridgefield (12-4), Trinity Catholic (12-4) and Westhill (12-4) have clinched playoff spots.

On Monday, Greenwich visits Fairfield Warde and Ludlowe plays at Trumbull in what are essentially elimination games.

Even if it wins, Warde still would be a long shot to make the playoffs since the Mustangs would have to beat unbeaten St. Joseph on Wednesday.

Bridgeport Central (home for Trinity Catholic) and Stamford (at Bassick) have tough matchups on Monday while Danbury hosts Norwalk and Staples is at McMahon in other games with playoff implications.

On Wednesday, Central is at McMahon, Greenwich ventures to Danbury, Stamford visits Harding, Darien hosts Ludlowe, Warde welcomes St. Joseph, Staples journeys toBassick and Trumbull entertains Trinity Catholic.

Ludlowe would be in the driver's seat with a win over Trumbull because the Falcons finishes against a one-win Blue Wave team.

Among the 9-7 teams, Central owns a tiebreaker over Greenwich and Stamford while the Cardinals defeated the Black Knights.

Here is how the tiebreakers shape up:

Central (9-7): beat Stamford, beat Greenwich, lost to Danbury, beat Ludlowe, lost to Warde, lost to Staples, beat Trumbull
