Woman Tried to Shoplifted $500+ From Trumbull Target: PD

She tried to return stolen items at customer service, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Bridgeport woman was arrested after she attempted to steal $553 worth of goods from the Target store at the mall, police said.

Tonya Shelton, 56, took items from the store and tried to return them at customer service, but was rejected. She then left the store with the items in a car, police said. She left behind her wallet.

Police responded and found Shelton hiding in the back of a friend's vehicle in the parking lot. The friend was unaware of the larceny.

She was charged with fifth-degree larceny.
