2 Prominent Vernon Commercial Parcels Taking Shape

Two prominent commercial parcels in Vernon are taking shape.

VERNON, CT — Two showcase commercial parcels in Vernon — a plot next to Scranton Motors and a flattened piece of land behind the new Wendy's — are primed for activity.

The target date to finish construction for an expanded Scranton Motors powersports division is Dec. 1, company executive Meghan Scranton said. The division sells and services all-terrain vehicles and novelty vehicles, among other items.

Scranton Powersports is currently housed at a former bank near the Route 83-Loveland Hill Road intersection and the operations will be moved to the new location next to the main Scranton dealership.

It is designed to serve customers throughout the region.

A level parcel behind Taco Bell and Wendy's has been approved for a 90,000-square-foot self-storage facility, Vernon Economic Development Coordinator Shaun Gately said.

With the site plan approved, an operator can now be recruited by the developer, he said.

drainage and retention work has also been performed at the site and access to the Hockanum River Trail will be improved, he said.
