A Look Back at Opening Day for the Little League

Vernon Little League celebrates it's 50th Anniversary.

A beautiful sunny Saturday morning began with an April tradition of opening day for Vernon Little League. 

A parade of  Litttle Leage teams including those in baseball school, single and double A, softball and major leaguers marched in a parade from the American Legion Hall on West St. to the Legion Field for a ceremony to recognize those who have achieved significant milestones across 50 years of  Vernon Little League history.

On Saturday, the Vernon Little league will begin its second week of play.

Here a look at opening week:

League: Major Division   
Final Score:  Mikro 9, Elks  3
Player of the game: 
Mikro - Jeremiah Langer (HR), Isaac Bilmes (HR), Brian Gardiner.
Elks - Mike Jensen, Dylan Andrews, Igor Aliczi.

League: Major Division   
Final Score:  Olenders   7, Bardin  6
Player of the game: 
Olenders - Eric Weinstein, Zac Sargent, Joe Pellergino.
Bardin - Tristan Hwalek, George Jansen, Matt Hoover.

League: Triple A Minor Division
Final Score: Fire Department  11, Vernon Police Assoc.  3
Standouts:
Fire Department: Noah Moulton (2 doubles, 3 BB, 3 innings pitched, great scoop at first base), Ben McCollum, Nate Boulette.
Vernon Police: Daniel D’Alessandro, Anothony Lanzano and Brandon Walker.
