VERNON, CT — When classes begin Thursday for the 2026-27 academic year, Vernon School resource officer Cara Momnie will be riding in style.

Indeed, Vernon has a new SRO cruiser and it has a distinct Rockville High School theme.
Officially, the Ford Explorer Police Interceptor is a "repurposed" cruiser, but with a sleek black paint job and Rockville Ram logos all over, it looks closer to new than used.
The cruiser will be on display at the high school Thursday morning.
It will also be a frequent visitor to other schools in town.
Police said the new cruiser will make the school resource officer program more visible and add a little school spirit to the mix.
