• CT DOT Releases Plans For Rumble Strips On Parts Of West Street In Vernon (patch.com) — Vernon residents are being asked to weigh in on a state proposal to add centerline rumble strips along sections of West Street, also known as Route 527. A virtual DOT meeting on October 27 will explain the safety project and take public questions, while Mayor Dan Champagne urges nearby neighbors to speak up about potential round-the-clock noise impacts.
   

• 'He had a lot of dreams': Family mourns Vernon youth who died while paddleboarding in Cape Cod pond (ctpost.com) — A Vernon family is grieving the death of 18-year-old Abdullah Naveed, who died after falling from a paddleboard into Jenkins Pond in Falmouth, Massachusetts, on August 31. Relatives in Vernon describe his many hopes for the future as Massachusetts authorities continue investigating the exact cause of his death, while community members have been reaching out with condolences and support.
