The Vernon boutique is highlighted for its handmade goods and holistic wellness events, from drum circles to Reiki and meditation, giving locals a new reason to explore paranormal-themed tourism close to home.

Vernon Cultural District Hosting Interactive Murder Mystery Event (patch.com) β Vernon's Cultural District is bringing an interactive murder mystery, "Death Takes A Bow," to Rockville Public Library on Oct. 10, with both afternoon and evening shows. Attendees can help solve the case while enjoying a catered meal from Becker's Catering of Tolland, but organizers warn that limited seating means groups should book tickets together early.

CT DOT Releases Plans For Rumble Strips On Parts Of West Street In Vernon (patch.com) β State transportation officials plan to add centerline rumble strips along sections of West Street/Route 527 in Vernon, and they've scheduled a virtual public meeting for Oct. 27 to gather resident feedback. Mayor Dan Champagne opposes the plan, warning nearby neighbors about potential round-the-clock noise and urging Vernon residents, especially those living along West Street, to speak up at the DOT session.

'He had a lot of dreams': Family mourns Vernon youth who died while paddleboarding in Cape Cod pond (ctpost.com) β An 18-year-old from Vernon died after falling into Jenkins Pond in Falmouth, Massachusetts, while paddleboarding, and his family here is grieving a son they say was brave, friendly, and full of dreams. Massachusetts authorities are still determining the cause of death, while friends and relatives from near and far have been sending flowers and support to the Vernon family.
