
Barbara (Paul) O’Brien, 78, of Vernon, wife of the late John O’Brien, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2011.
Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (Conley) Paul, she lived in Tolland before moving to Vernon over 34 years ago. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who liked to spend time with her family and friends. Barbara enjoyed traveling, cooking and fine wines. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making everyone laugh.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sue Tobia of Vernon and Jane Beard her husband Scott of Vernon; two grandchildren, Corinne Peterson and her husband Gus of Vernon and Devin Cowperthwaite and his fiancé Rachael Burkey of Vernon, and her very close friends, Patrick and Thora Cowperthwaite and their son Patrick of Vernon.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m.
