Arrest Made in Vernon "Bumper Cars" Incident

A man accused of bashing his car into several other cars while fleeing a crime scene was arrested, police said.

VERNON, CT – A man wanted for causing a bumper cars-like series of crashes while fleeing an October domestic incident has been charged, Vernon police said, Monday.

Raequan Barber, 22, of 171 East Main St., Vernon was picked up by Manchester police on Friday, according to an arrest report. He was brought to Vernon and charged with violating a restraining order, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening, reckless driving and evading responsibility, police said.

The incident took place at 10:22 p.m. on Oct., 16, according to a warrant. Police were told that a man, later identified as Barber, was "going crazy" during domestic dispute at 41 Spring St.

He was there is violation of a restraining order, according to a warrant.

Barber fled the scene and hit several vehicles along Spring Street in a scene that resembled "bumper cars," police said. According to a warrant, woman was outside her vehicle crying after being rammed by Barber's car.

Others whose cars were hit were out in the street yelling, according to a warrant.

The initial argument was between Barber and a woman he had been dating for about a year, according to a warrant.
