Become Part of the Solution (BPS), an all-volunteer, non-profit recovery outreach based at Union Church in Rockville, will host its annual benefit music festival at the Shaboo Stage in Jillson Square Park on Saturday, May 21 from 1 to 5 pm rain or shine. Jillson Square Park is located at 645 Main Street, diagonally across from the famous “Frog Bridge.” Dress is casual and admission is free. All donations will go toward providing care for alcoholics and addicts in need. Attendees may bring folding chairs, blankets, umbrellas and coolers with non-alcoholic beverages and food.

As of press time, participating artists include John Brown, Rebecca Ellert, Arno Groot, Ryan McCarthy, Dennis Nevin, John Powell, Cowboy Randy, Joe Sach, John Schwartz and headliner band Selfish Steam. All proceeds will go toward providing care for alcoholics and addicts in need.

Founded in 1991, BPS was formed to help to provide and fund inpatient acute care, post inpatient rehabilitation, and post rehabilitation housing for alcoholics and addicts in need. BPS was founded by Luginbuhl and Smokey Orcutt, a Drug and Alcohol counselor at Rockville General Hospital who was having a difficult time getting people into treatment because many of them were uninsured or under-insured. Orcutt died in 2013, but Luginbuhl has continued with the work. Over the decades, BPS has sponsored many people from across Connecticut. The organization has no paid staff and no overhead.
