Camper, Car Rollovers Tie Up Sunday Traffic In Vernon, Tolland
Two crashes made for an unpleasant experience on Interstate 84 in Vernon and Tolland Sunday morning.

TOLAND/VERNON, CT — A crash on Interstate 84 involving a camper backed up traffic from Vernon into Tolland Sunday morning while responders cleaned up the mess.
So did one involving a car.
Fire officials in Vernon said the crash took place at 10:58 a.m. on I-84 westbound just after the Exit 67 off-ramp. Vernon firefighters, Vernon EMS, Rockville Medic and Connecticut State police all quickly responded to the scene.

A camper being towed by a sport utility vehicle flipped onto its side and two people had to be extricated from the SUV via a cut-out front passenger door after measures were taken to prevent it from rolling, fire officials said.
One person was taken to an area hospital with what fire officials described as non-life-threatening injuries. Two others refused medical treatment at the scene, fire officials said.

While crews were tending to that rollover, crews tended to a second one about 2 miles west near Exit 66. A car rolled several times a and the incident forced the closure of the westbound side of the highway into the early afternoon hours, fire officials said.
One lane was opened back up by 12:30 p.m., but the highway remained that was into the early afternoon hours, fire officials said.
An area diving instructor coming to Vernon from a class at Bigelow Hollow State Park said it took him an hour to get from Exits 68 to Exit 67.
