Donations of 100% cotton quilting fabric for masks
Grassroots community effort to make masks needs contributions
Based on recent guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and today's executive order by Governor Ned Lamont, a local group of community-minded volunteers is issuing a public call for donations of 100% cotton quilting fabric, so they can continue to make large quantities of masks during the coronavirus crisis.
"We have plenty of the elastic material and other components, but we need the washable cotton quilting fabric as our core material," says Gerry Gallo, a Vernon resident who is helping to lead the effort along with local businessman Scott Zahner and others. He will make arrangements to pick up the fabric while maintaining appropriate social distancing.
