Emergency Shelter Okayed in Vernon
The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the Rockville shelter by a 5-1 vote.

The Vernon Planning and Zoning Commission approved a pair of special permits Thursday that will allow an emergency shelter at 32 School Street, the Journal Inquirer reported.
A shelter and administrative office operated by the Cornerstone Foundation will be located at the site, which was previously a single-family home for the St. Bernard Church convent.

The shelter may only be used by homeless families with children enrolled in Vernon schools, Cornerstone shelter director Bryan Flint told the JI.
