Girls Fast-Pitch Clinics set to Begin Sunday

The clinics are scheduled over four weeks.

The Vernon Parks and Recreation Department will be offering girls fast-pitch pitching and catching clinics beginning for all ages beginning Sunday.

The hands-on clinics will focus on teaching the mechanics of the basic windmill motion to beginners and provide a review for the more experienced players to help them become more accurate and effective.

Catching instruction will include various drills that will focus on proper catching, blocking and throwing mechanics. Catchers will also be working with pitchers, catching from full distance.

The clinics encompass a four-week program that will run on Sunday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30 beginning on Sunday and concluding on March 25 at Center 375 at 375 Hartford Turnpike.

The clinics will be split into two sessions - pitching and catching basics for Beginners from 2:30 to 3:30 and an intermediate/advanced session for the more experienced pitchers and catchers from 3:30 to 4:30.

Instruction will be provided by experienced coaches from the area and members of the Rockville High School softball team.

The registration fee is $35.

Registrations will be limited due to space constraints. Registrations will be accepted on first come, first serve basis.
