Former Red Sox Pitcher Tim Wakefield Appearing at Farmington Bank's Vernon Branch Saturday Morning

The bank branch is celebrating its grand opening.

VERNON, CT - Former major league knuckleball pitcher and Red Sox star Tim Wakefield is scheduled to appear at the new Vernon Farmington Bank Branch on Saturday.

The branch opened on June 15 at 135 Talcottville Road, next to Taco Bell.

"Farmington Bank’s new branch office in Vernon will offer a complete line of consumer and commercial banking products and, as with our other 23 other branches in central Connecticut and western Massachusetts, serve as an active and committed partner in the community,” said John J. Patrick, Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Farmington Bank.

To mark its new presence in Vernon, Farmington Bank has been hosting a month-long grand opening through Saturday, July 16.
Saturday's appearance of Wakefield, the bank's celebrity spokesman, is the highlight.

Wakefield's appearance is slated for 10 to 11:30 a.m. He will to meet the public and sign baseballs, bank officials said.

Farmington Bank’s Vernon branch office is designed to be customer-friendly with an open floor setting of approximately 1,500 square feet on he main floor, plus a drive-up transaction window and drive-up ATM.

The branch features pods in lieu of traditional teller lines where customers are greeted by "universal staff bankers. The branch also offers a free coin counting machine.
