Gov. Malloy Asks for Possible FEMA Storm Assistance
The assistance could mean a 75 percent reimbursement for certain storm costs for a number of towns.

Gov. Dannel Malloy announced that the state has requested the Federal Emergency Management Agency to conduct assessments in parts of Connecticut for possible reimbursement of storm costs.
Malloy asked that FEMA specifically look at New London, Tolland and Windham counties.
“This was a devastating storm for parts of our state that many cities and towns are still recovering from,” Malloy said. “This assessment is the first step in the process of securing possible federal assistance for those communities that were hit the hardest.”

After the assessment Malloy could potentially request a major disaster declaration, which would mean that FEMA would reimburse 75 percent of eligible costs to the state, tribal nationals, municipalities and certain non-profits.
Malloy requested that assessments begin the week of Feb. 9.
