LETTER: Keep Dave Kemp on the Vernon School Board
Letters are strictly the opinion of the author, and do not necessarily reflect the views of Vernon Patch.

When I won my first election and at my first Vernon Board of Education meeting, my seating assignment was next to David Kemp. Words of advice from the legend - listen and make sure to read your board packet. If you have a question, ask it. Be polite and remember, people are counting on us to take care of their most precious assets - their children.
Listening to Dave, you would find out that he was a Second Lieutenant in the Army, stationed in Germany during the 1960’s. After receiving an Honorable discharge, Dave worked for over 30 years at Xerox. After that, he joined the American Red Cross where he has been volunteering at countless area house fires, responding to natural disasters across the country, and most recently, over seas in Saipan, helping out after a typhoon hit that area.
Dave has spent twenty eight years on the Board of Education, serving the children of Vernon. Additionally, through the American Red Cross, he has given hours, days, weeks helping others whose lives have been touched by disaster. Yet he still gives valuable time and service to his job on the Board of Education.

This is the kind of person we want in a leadership role. This is the kind of person that we need on the Board of Education. This is a man whose life is dedicated to helping others. Vernon needs more people like him. He has my vote on November 3rd.
