Local Hospitals Get Good Marks From Ratings Service

Manchester and Rockville hospitals scored well over a variety of areas.

Both local hospitals under the Eastern Connecticut Health Network Banner - Rockville General and Manchester Memorial - have received good marks from a national health care industry rating agency.

A recent report released by HealthGrades named Rockville General Hospital a recipient of the Pulmonary Care Excellence Award for the fourth year in a row and the Stroke Care Excellence Award for 2012.   

Manchester Memorial Hospital received an award as "One of America’s 100 Best in Critical Care Excellence."

MMH ranked No. 1 in Connecticut for Critical Care for the second year in a row.

MMH also received 5-star ratings in the following areas:

• Five-Star rated for treatment of heart attacks, four years in a row.

• Five-Star rated for treatment of heart failure, three years in a row.

• Five-Star rated for treatment of strokes in 2012.

• Five-Star rated for treatment of pneumonia, seven years in a row.

• Five-Star rated for GI procedures and surgeries, four years in a row.

• Five-Star rated for overall critical care, two years in a row.

• Five-Star rated for treatment of sepsis, four years in a row.

• Five-Star Rated for treatment of respiratory failure, five years in a row.

RGH also received 5-star ratings in the following areas:

• Five-Star rated for treatment of heart failure, two years in a row.

• Five-Star rated for stroke treatment, three years in a row.

• Five-Star rated for overall pulmonary services, four years in a row.

• Five-Star rated for treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in 2012.

• Five-Star rated for treatment of pneumonia, five years in a row.

• Five-Star rated for treatment of sepsis, five years in a row.

• Five-Star rated for treatment of respiratory failure, five years in a row.
