Lost Car Leads To Trash Can-Pushing Tirade Along Vernon Street

A man went on a tantrum in a Vernon neighborhood after losing his car, police said.

VERNON, CT — A man who lost his car went on a trash-can pushing tantrum along a busy Vernon road while trying to find it, and when the vehicle was finally located, drugs were clearly visible inside, police said.

After being taken to Rockville General Hospital, the man, identified as 28-year-old Patrick Madigan of East Windsor, was charged with narcotics posession, according to a report.

At 3:30 a.m. on July 15, Vernon police were dispatched to the Vernon Diner on Route 30 after a staff member said a man dressed in shorts and a tank top was "running around in front of the building, acting angry," according to a report. The staffer told police the man, later identified as Madigan, was intoxicated, according to a report.

Madigan agreed to be transported to the hospital after admitting he was on drugs, police said.

Police were also told Madigan was knocking over trash cans along Union Street because he was confused about where his car was, according to a report. He was creating a disturbance in the area, according to a report. Police did not know how he arrived at the diner from Union Street, according to a report.

The car was found near Union Street and illegal pills and drug paraphernalia were "clearly visible" inside, according to a report.

Madigan is due in court on July 23, police said.
