Luigi The Runaway Horse 'Taken Into Custody' By Vernon Police
Horses named Luigi and Lozeau were arrested Wednesday after a brief police chase.

VERNON, CT — A wayward runaway horse named Luigi was safety returned home after a romp through a Vernon neighborhood early Wednesday morning.
Luigi had escaped from his Paddock at a Bamforth Road property and the VPD sprung into action. A horse named Lozeau was also in on the caper.
Officer Devon O'Donnell, along with Officer Cara Monmie and Officer Zach Johanson, were able to catch Luigi and Lozeau after their jaunt around the area.

No charges were filed against Luigi and Lozeau. They were briefly detained for questioning, then returned to the property, police said.
The incident brought a smile to the horses' owner.

"Luigi and you have bonded. You and your fellow horse wrangler officers are welcome to visit your new friends, Luigi and Lozeau anytime," the owner said in the VPF Facebook page. "I am blessed they are back safely and not injured. And that none of the VPD officers were hurt either. Great way to start your morning, not mine ... LOL."
