Man Accused of Groping, Gun Threat at Vernon Soup Kitchen

The man was held over the weekend on a high bond, police said.

VERNON, CT — A Vernon man is accused of first groping someone then threatening that person and another with gun violence after an incident at the local soup kitchen, police said.

The incident involving 59-year-old Anthony Terrell took place just after noon on Friday, police said. The Cornerstone Soup Kitchen is located at 15 Prospect St. and Terrell lives just down the road on Oak Street, police said.

He had been kicked out of Cornerstone after allegedly touching someone in an inappropriate place on the upper body during an verbal altercation, according to an arrest report. Prior to leaving the facility, Terrell allegedly said he would return with a handgun and harm two people, according to an arrest report.

He was charged with second-degree threatening, fourth-degree sexual assault, interfering, second-degree breach of peace and refusing to be fingerprinted, according to an arrest report.

He was held over the weekend on a $50,000 bons and was to appear in court Monday, police records indicate.
