Man Charged In Vernon Flashing Incident Fails To Post High Bond
A man accused of exposing himself to a child at a bowling center in Vernon remained in custody Friday on a high bond.

VERNON, CT — A man charged in connection with a flashing incident at a bowling alley and amusement center in Vernon remained in custody Friday morning on a $250,000 bond after his Thursday arraignment in Rockville Superior court.
John Tobia, 55, of Vernon, is due back before a judge on Sept. 27. That's a month after police received a call Wednesday about a man exposing himself at Spare Time at 350 Talcottville Road. Investigators determined that Tobia had flashed a child in the game room at the bowling center, according to an incident report.
On Thursday, Tobia was taken into custody without incident on a warrant for felony risk of injury to a minor, first-degree breach of peace (a felony) and public indecency, judicial system records show. He was arraigned later in the day.

Tobia is a registered sex offender. According to the Connecticut Sex Offender Registry, Tobia was convicted of illegal sexual contact with someone younger than 16 and risk of injury to a minor in 2006. He has used aliases that include John Doe, and George Taylor, according to the registry.
His listed address on the registry is on Peterson Road, which is in close proximity to Vernon Center Middle School, Center Road School and the police department.
