Man Charged for Vernon KMart Theft

He tried to steal a cart full of merchandise, police said.

VERNON, CT — A man already wanted tried to sneak a cartload of stuff out of the Vernon KMart on Friday and was charged twice as a result, police said.

It was 11:34 a.m. when Curt Squires, 44, of Spring St., Vernon, was caught trying to take $579 work of merchandise from the store, police said.

He was confronted by a security staffer and began to pull the loaded cart toward the staffer, only to leave the cart and flee on foot, police said.

He was chased down and charged with fifth-degree larceny, police said. Hew was also arrested for the outstanding warrant, police said.
